Spain Installs Facial Recognition For Border Control Between Melilla And Morocco

The Ministry of the Interior has implemented a new system of people control at the border of Melilla and Morocco through facial recognition, called the 'intelligent border'. Two buildings have been set up at the Beni-Enzar crossing point, one for entry and one for exit, and a third building for filters and inspection carried out by the Guardia Civil, which has vehicle lifts. The procedure, called the Agile Passage System (SPA), allows registration through facial recognition which means that, once people are registered in the system, their data will be valid for three years.
