Santa Ana Winds Stoke Wildfires In Southern California

The arrival of Santa Ana Winds is bringing gusts of 60- to 80-miles per hour in Malibu and up to 108 miles per hour on a peak near one of the fires that broke out in Los Angeles County this morning. Fire conditions are particularly dangerous this year because the driest season since records began 130 years ago has taken most of the moisture from the Chaparral habitat that covers much of southern California.
