Amma Guru, the Hugging Saint
Mata Amritanandamayi Devi or Amma Guru "Mother", is a spiritual leader and teacher, who is revered as a saint by her followers. She is sometimes referred to as "The Hugging Saint. She was born on Sept. 27, 1953, to a poor family of fishermen in Kerala, India. Amma's devotees claim she personally has hugged more than 30 million people in the last 30 years.
