Hungary - Gypsy Culture
Members of the hungarian gipsy ensemble "Rajko Zenekar" prepare to perform in Budapest. The Rajko Gypsy Ensemble was established in 1952 by Gyula Farkas (art leader and conductor) in order to provide an opportunity for young gypsy people to retain and develop the traditions of gypsy music. The main aim of their work was to get the gypsy music out of the pub and onto the world stage. These goals have been completed; the Ensemble has represented Hungary's gypsy music culture in more than a hundred countries in the last five decades. Thousands of young artists have been educated in the Rajko Gypsy Ensemble who bear the group's unique values. (Photo by Alessandra Benedetti/Corbis via Getty Images)
