She sees the work she does with people who run the gamut from serious hoarders to regular folks who just want a little more space in their garages as an extension of the counseling and therapy she had done for years as a social worker, which included counseling troops going to and coming back from Iraq. Working with her clients now is as much about providing therapy as it is giving practical tips on what to throw out and how to store what you decide to keep.
