The Bengal tiger hides in the high grass. Rising...
KANHAKISLI NATIONAL PARK, MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA - 2016/11/06: The Bengal tiger hides in the high grass.
Rising temperatures, population pressure and extreme weather drives tigers into villages as their habitat is threatened. The sundarbans is the world's largest river delta and stretches across the border between India and Bangladesh. It is also the world's largest mangrove forest and is home to unique plant and wild life; including crocodiles, pythons - and the Bengal tiger. The northern parts of the area belong to one of the most fertile and densely populated places on earth. The growing population and economic hardship has led to overfishing and felling of the mangrove forest, resulting in extensive soil erosion.
More than half of the residents of Sundarbans live below the poverty line.
80 percent live in clay huts, one in four adults cannot read. Only around 30 percent have access to electricity. Not even half have access to any kind of toilet. (Photo by Jonas Gratzer/LightRocket via Getty Images)
