Washington, DC, Sept 21, 2004 -- <cq><cq> Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell,<cq> (Northern Cheyenne) carries the US flag as he leads the Native Nations Procession to start the opening ceremonies for the National Museum of the American Indian Tuesday. Native Americans from through-out the Western Hemisphere gathered on the National Mall in Washington, DC to join in the Native Nations Procession Tuesday, the first event in the First Americans Festival, a tribute to the indiginous cultures of the Western Hemisphere. The six day event celebrates the opening of the National Museum of the American Indian by the Smithsonian Institution and showcases the breadth of native art, skill, knowledge and wisdom. <cq> Staff photo by Brian Brainerd (Photo By Brian Brainerd/The Denver Post via Getty Images)
