World Heaveyweight Champion boxer Muhammad Ali on set of the 1979 American TV movie being filmed near Natchez, Mississippi under the direction of Czech director Jan Kadar. Ali played the role of a mythical slave Gideon Jackson alongside co-star Kris Kristofferson wearing a fake goatee beard and greying hair his presence onset was that of someone who appeared disinterested in making movies yet he sprang to life when the camera started to roll just as if the bell had rung in a boxing ring. His daughter Laila Ali, then 2 years old accompanied him and his new wife Veronica Porsche and is pictured with Ali while he tries to play a game of cards with the reporter Nigel Nelson (pictured).
