Hiroshima, Japan-April 1, 2014: So-called Atomic Bomb Dome, located in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park during cherry blossom season with many visitors. The skeleton building was Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall until an atomic bomb exploded at 8:15a.m., August 6, 1945, at a height of 600 meters above it. The building with its exposed steel came to be referred to as Atomic Bomb Dome. The dome was designated as UNESCO World Heritage site in 1996 under the name of Hiroshima Peace Memorial. The site constantly attracts many visitors from both within and outside Japan, including President Obama of the United States, for its historical background. The site offers additional attraction for its beautiful cherry blossom in spring.
