MOMENT - Israeli airstrikes target Beirut's southern suburbs

BEIRUT, LEBANON - OCT. 3, 2024: Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on the southern Dahieh district of Beirut on Thursday (Oct. 3). Footage captured the moment of the explosions as the strikes hit the area, with plumes of smoke rising from the targeted buildings. Israel launched attacks on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, which have intensified since Sept. 23. Tel Aviv claims to be targeting only Hezbollah targets throughout Lebanon, but the strikes have killed more than 1,100 victims, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. The aerial campaign was an escalation in the year-long cross-border warfare between Israel and Hezbollah since the start of Tel Aviv’s brutal offensive on Gaza that has killed nearly 41,800 victims, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack in early October last year.
