The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade usually happens along Oxford Street but is being held at the Sydney Cricket Ground for the second year due to COVID-19 restrictions and contact tracing requirements. The Sydney Mardi Gras parade began in 1978 as a march and commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall Riots of New York.
