Senator Murray says President Trump broke student loan program in first term but Democrats to fight abolishing Education Department

Senate Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Patty Murray of Washington State says at a news conference amid reports that newly confirmed Secretary Linda McMahon was moving to abolish the Department of Education under a possible executive order by President Trump that during President Trump's first term, he did not abolish public student loan forgiveness but broke it as badly as possible with 99 percent of applications rejected, which demonstrated what Trump, Elon Musk and McMahon planned to do to the entire department as they broke it into pieces and then broke the pieces, and because Trump and Musk did not know what it was like to count on their local public school having resources for their children's education or why Pell Grants were important and did not care to learn why, they wanted to break the department, break the government, and enrich themselves, promising not to let the department and its programs for children go down without a fight.
