Senator Schumer floor remarks on the Equifax failures

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York begins a floor speech responding to the disclosed data breach of credit monitoring bureau Equifax, calling the incident, the most egregious example of corporate malfeasance since Enron, doubly troubling on a number of levels is that the credit bureau failed out its second of two jobs to protect sensitive information funneled through its process of calculating and reporting accurate credit scores. Schumer says that because Equifax waited so long to report the breach, consumers were put behind the eight ball, creating a problem in forcing terms prohibiting legal claims, which he calls outrageous. Schumer says that if Equifax executives who sold stock before the public disclosure new about the breach, it will be one of the most brazen and shameful attempts of insider trading, he could recall, and it is time to get to its very bottom, murky bottom, dirty bottom.
