Emergency Drill At Site Of Sarin Attack, Simulated Poison Spray In Subway Car

TOKYO, JAPAN - MAR. 6: Taking a lesson from the subway sarin attack of 1995, Tokyo Fire Department's Kyobashi station enacted an emergency response drill on the 6th at the Tokyo Metro Tsukiji Station, which is where most of the original victims were brought out, simulating an attack by spray of chemical toxin inside a subway car. According to the Kyobashi fire station, the drill had the cooperation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Chuo Ward, St Luke's International Hospital and Tokyo Metro subway. About twenty vehicles responded including pumper trucks and a special eight-bay emergency response vehicle. Firemen wore oxygen tanks and protective gear and transported victims on stretchers up and out of the subway to the parking lot of the Tsukiji Honganji temple. A large temporary tent was set up where decontamination procedures were performed to wash off toxins from victims' clothing, and doctors were on hand in the ambulance vehicles to administer critical care.
